Rose Marie Camper Family Education Fund

Rosie Marie White Camper, affectionately known by many names including Mama Rose, Grandma, and Marie. Born on September 3, 1947, in Ethel, Mississippi, Rosie became a steadfast beacon of love, service, and empowerment in Mendenhall.

Rosie's life was a testament to the power of community involvement and personal dedication. She sang with heart in the choir, imparted wisdom as a Sunday School Teacher, nourished souls as the Mission Kitchen Coordinator, and extended her caring hands to the sick and shut-in. Her post-retirement years were no less impactful; Rosie continued to serve as a Direct Care Worker, bringing warmth and care to many homes.

But it was not just her service that defined her; Rosie's vibrant spirit was evident in her love for gardening, her knack for finding the best bargains at Dirt Cheap, and her unmistakable style - always donned in her signature fancy hats and sparkling jewelry.

Rosie's passing on September 8th left a void, but her legacy endures through the Rose Marie Camper Family Education Fund. A believer in the transformative power of education, Rosie's dream was to ensure every child had the opportunity to succeed. This fund, established in her honor, continues her mission by supporting graduating students heading to college. Every year at baccalaureate service in Mendenhall MS the Rose Marie Camper Education Fund rewards the the students who will be attending college that fall with a book scholarship. The reward changes depending on how much we are able to raise during the year but big or small it makes a difference in the lives of those students lives and thus a difference for our community long term. In 2024 it was our honor to issue over $2000 in scholarship through the Rose Marie Camper Family Education Fund.
